Lost in translation... In Java Indonesia

Arriving on Jakarta was hustle, at the airport, I insisted to find a bus to go to city. Everyone was not reliable because they telling lies that there is no buses to go to city at all. “No way, I'm sure there is some buses”:( It took me about an hour to find out some buses goes to somewhere outside of airport. All taxi drivers were telling me that is not going to town, da da da. That was bull shit but I almost believed it but I didn't care. It was hundred time more expensive to take cabs, maybe not that much but I took the bus which I have no idea where will it take. Took me about hour to last destination where all the people get off due to traffic jam. Eventually I was right it was the center of the town. Ask more people on street where can I find place where I can find hostels or guest houses. They told me Jaksa street. Ask more people where I can find Jaksa street. After a week of talking to random people I manage to find out which people to trust. I walk through according to all the those random peoples this way, that way and I don't know. Finally, I found Jaksa street. Right, that was a tourist street. I hate it!!! because of old dirty people who's buying prostitutes and atmosphere of shity tourist. I'm sorry if I offended some people liked that place. But Jakarta is a big business town where rich and poverty is mixed up badly. Slums and huge buildings are next each other. They hate and afraid neighbors. I thought agh... why did i came here...

Well, fortunately I had some friends that I known from Uni in Sydney. I spent some time for me to show around the town. They welcomed me kindly. That was nice. I saw some of the local Indonesian life styles. They living in nice 24hrs security building middle of the Jakarta city but having hard life with over cost bills and strict work.

Next day I went to National museum. This is one of my favorite one actually. Cheap entry with so many historical monuments, puppets, musks and religious bronzes. Inspired me. I went back another day spent couple of hours to draw them.

My friends took me to a place called Alexis club. Hate it.

They took me to mountain village, hmm.

Found a street food, got stomachache for a week.

Stayed in hostel with bed bags for two nights, slept on floor away from bed with light on.

Walked in a expensive shopping mall.

Watched some movies with cheap but fuckin luxury and huge seat.

Met a Japanese business man works in Jakarta took me to little Japan.

Got drunk in a bar with some travelers on Jaksa street, best night out.

Met a magician, he revealed all card tricks for me which was unbelievable.

I think that is it. Not much things has happen to me in Jakarta. I just glad to meet old friends.

While I was in Java, I went to Yogyakarta. This place was more potential. Means that it could be nice to visit. While I was there, there was a demo or more like fight between police and students, plus is was the low season. There were not many people in that town. Nice little town but, I couldn't meet any people. There was only me in the hostel as well. Hmm, shit happens.

I have seen shadow puppet show the performers called me up to the stage, watching them playing instrument and puppet as some special guest. It was little bit too long but loved it. Gives me an idea for film that I want to make in a future. Like to use for background when some people talking about something serious. Well, also I went to see temples. The world heritage temples “Borobudur and Prambanan”. Most of them are actually destroyed due to earthquake and thieves. I went there on motorbike with hand writing map. I got lost sooooooooooo many times but it was fun. Much more fun than temple itself to me. Found small temple on the way. Saw the one of the biggest tree I've ever seen. Talked a lot of local people, they are really nice people in countryside. They can not speak a single word of English but used body languages, pen and paper to communicate. Ate some great food, ahhh, miss sate and bakso. Nasi uduk which is rice with coconuts milk comes with nuts and dried fish. Yumm. Went to houses where I can meet artist who is making Batik art and shadow puppets. They are really nice. This little town was truly arty and cozy place. Climbed up to the Merapi mountain the active volcano. I was surprised in Japan that I heard it erupted 8 month after I was there. More than 300 people has died. Some people that I met on my journey has been near the town when its exploded.

On the way back to Jakarta in a train I met a indonesian woman, got fun conversation. Then she asked do I want to stay her aunties home stay. I got no plan so I said ok. I get off the train about 3 stops before. Then I went to her local house. Wow,... yep I never saw that side of the town. Her house was quite clean but. I got quite fun experience in that place called Monjokarta. Shit, shower and brush in a same place about half square meter room with mold and using same water from bucket with rain water. There were three big buckets to store the water. Next to it, there is a kind of kitchen where I can find knife, buckets, oil stove and some pots. The street in the town was filled with rubbish, like a mountain on street. There was a river of rubbish couldn't see any water. But the family was really nice. Of course they can not say any word in English even one two three though they treat me very nice. I liked there so stayed for four nights. Then I took the way back to Jakarta. Took a bajaj, like a toktok in Thailand. I was on a way to station, there was a railway crossing. The traffic was packed waiting for train to pass by, a train passed then we all go for crossing the line. “stupid” the traffic stuck in middle of the railway. I was in middle. Here come the sound of next train. Ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding... Fuck, people starts to yelling. I saw a train coming from a side far away ringing the whistle like a mad buffalo. I grabbed one of my small backpack forget about my big one trying to open the door but closed by the cars around my bajaj. Holy shit! Its getting closer and closer so fast, then people started to wave their white shirts to train. Phew... I got really scared. Then I took a flight to KL
